Kangaroos - Western Grey Being inside State Forest and right next to agricultural lands, it comes as no surprise that there are plenty of kangaroos living here. The green grassy areas of the park therefore become quite an attraction for the wildlife, much to the delight of the other two-legged and sometimes more intelligent visitors. Here are a few photos taken by a former resident here who has kindly given us permission to use them.
Our park has been chosen as an ideal "return to the wild place" for orphaned kangaroos. Volunteers from wildlife refuges have built a small compound here, sort of like a half-way home for them. The young roos will stay in the pen for a few months until they are fully weaned and used to their new surroundings and then we will just leave the gate open so they can come and go as they please. Hopefully they will not wander too far away, but it is important that they have the opportunity to return to the wild.
